The first town that you find coming from Salerno, is Vietri sul Mare. The town is built on a little promonty and on the seaside where we find an impressive saracin tower. Historicaly, Vietri was the old town of "Marcina", built by the Etrurian. Later the Roman conquered it. Vietri Sul Mare since XV century produced ceramics; its trade was especially with Sicily and Calabria.

The decoration of Vietri ceramic, has the typical color of the coast. In Raito, just above Vietri, you can visit the museum of ceramic, where you can admire pieces from the XV century.
